THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES 

 

With the sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Oplonti, Campania has an exceptional testimony on the daily life of ancient Rome. Buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, the ancient Roman cities were immortalized in their offices, in their homes and also and especially in their intimate daily life, such as 2000 years ago.

 

MUSEUMS 

 

The city of Naples has several museums, including MADRE, a museum dedicated to contemporary art. However, one must admit, that the reputation of the region is based on the collection of ancient art in the Archaeological Museum of Naples, with its precious finds from the excavations of Pompeii, Ercolani and Oplonti.
